Robert P. Smith, 83, of Bloomington died at 6:33 p.m. Thursday (June 14, 2007) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Bob was born July 26, 1923, in Eureka, and lived in Central Illinois his entire life. The son of George and Edna Porter Smith, he married his loving partner of 60 years, JoAnne Barcroft, on Aug. 9, 1947, in Elmhurst. Bob graduated from Eureka High School, Eureka College and Bradley University. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II.

A–member of the Farmer City United Methodist Church and a–32nd-degree–Mason of the A.F. & A.M. Farmer City Masonic Lodge 710,–he–was also a standing member of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Bloomington, Bloomington, and Joe Williams American Legion Post 55, Farmer City.

Bob was a founding partner of the Smith/Johanns Insurance Agency in Farmer City and worked in the insurance business for over 30 years.

A–dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Bob–enjoyed a lifelong passion for golf and music. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne of Bloomington; two sons, R. Jeffery (Sue) Smith of Bourbonnais, and Randall G. (Janis) Smith of Marblehead, Mass.; three grandchildren, Stacy (James) Vlahakis of Chicago; Scott Smith of Bourbonnais; and Brad Smith of Marblehead, Mass.; and one great-grandson, Evan Vlahakis of Chicago.

JoAnne B. Smith, 94, of Kankakee, formerly of Farmer City, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2019) at Miller Healthcare, Kankakee.

She was born March 27, 1924 in Litchfield, the daughter of Victor and Mildred Holst Barcroft. JoAnne married Robert P. Smith on Aug. 9, 1947 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2007.

She was a graduate of Eureka College. JoAnne was a homemaker, a member of PEO, and an avid golfer. She was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Sue Smith, Bourbonnais and Randy Smith, Incline Village, Nevada; three grandchildren, Stacy and James Vlahakis, Burr Ridge; Scott and Jennifer Smith, Bourbonnais; and Brad Smith, Reno, Nevada and four great-grandchildren, Evan Vlahakis, Ian Vlahakis, Matthew Smith and Lily Smith.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
