Blake Alan Ball Sr., 83, of Rosedale, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on July 17,1933, in Coal Bluff, to Carl and Ethel Ball.
Blake loved to spend time with his family, mushroom hunt, fish, and go hunting. He retired from the Vigo County School Corporation after 30 years of service. Blake also was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his three children, Elaine Ball, Vicki Weir and her husband Jim, and Blake Ball Jr.; four grandchildren J.J. Hilderbrand, Jimmy Dean Weir, Jessica Weir and Ashley Weir. He also has four great-grandchildren,Trenton Hilderbrand, Aria Hilderbrand, Celest Smith and Brayden Alan Shrock.
Blake was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ethel Ball; and one brother, Carl Ball.
Services will be Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with a visitation Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Rockrun Cemetery in Bridgeton. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Herb.
