Larry Glassburn, 54 of rural Sidney in the Sunol area died late Wednesday afternoon, March 26, 2008 at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney with Pastor Edgar Schambach officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.

Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Ross Glassburn was born in Sidney on October 10th, 1953 to Herbert Ross Glassburn and Pauline Lenore (Kerk) Glassburn.

He grew up in Lodgepole, moving to the farm in Sunol when he was 17 years old.

He attended school at the Lodgepole Public Schools, graduating in 1971. He participated in many school activities, excelling in basketball and music. It was here, where he made his life long friends. He participated in 4-H throughout his school years. He enjoyed agriculture and beef showmanship and judging. He also met new friends from other clubs and towns. He enjoyed 4-H trips, camps and activities.

Larry attended Chadron State College, graduating with a degree in Music Education in 1974. During his years in college, he was a member of the Blue Key Fraternity. He was a member of the Eagalars choral group, jazz band, concert band and brass ensembles. During college he was selected to be a soloist competing with other college music majors from across the nation to tour Europe. He loved playing the trombone and also played in the Scottsbluff Orchestra. He student taught in Kimball, NE with Harry McNees. Harry McNees was an inspiration for Larry. He also taught in Harrisburg, NE directing choral and instrumental groups, receiving many top honors. Larry married Trudi Asheim on June 23, 1979 in Brush, Colorado. They lived on the Sunol farm. They had three children, Rebekah, Ross and Lindsey. Robert Harrington III married Rebekah and they have a daughter, Iris.

He enjoyed hunting, and enjoying outdoor activities. He loved being a farmer. His interest in further educational opportunities with in the organic farming community included being a part of a group called R and E – research and education, meeting with a select group from the U.S. and Canada. He had given presentations for many groups and organizations, sharing his knowledge about organic farming. He was looking forward to a presentation at CSU for an advanced agronomy class later in April this year.

Survivors: wife, Trudi; daughter and son-in-law, Rebekah and Robert Harrington III, Thornton, CO; son, Ross, Sidney, NE; daughter, Lindsey, Wamgeo, KS; granddaughter, Iris Harrington; sister, Kay, Sidney, NE; parent-in-laws, Waldemar and Enid Asheim, Hermosa, SD; aunts, uncles, many cousins, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father and mother.
