Born in Newark, Ohio on May 25, 1917 to Frank Warner and Inez Irene (Stasel) Wolverton, Mary Elizabeth Wolverton, 87, passed away in Blacksburg, Virginia. She was formerly from Newark and Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati from 1952-1981. She received Professor Emeritus Rank in 1981. A Professional Girl Scout for 10 years in the Newark Council, as well as serving two years with the Licking Co. Girl Scout Council, she taught with the Newark, Ohio Public Schools and the Mansfield, Ohio public schools. A graduate from the Ohio State University, she received her masters degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, and her Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include a sister, Marthalee Schaub of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; a brother and sister-in-law, Warner and Margaret Ann Wolverton of Newark, Ohio; nine nices and nephews; 20 great-nieces.

Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark, Ohio.
