Mary Sara Vollenweider, 90, of Loveland, was called to her heavenly home Sept. 15, 2001, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 2, 1911, near Hudson, S.D., to Jacob and Lillian Stambaugh Zeigler. She married Holland "Holly" Vollenweider Dec. 27, 1932, at her parents' home near Hudson.

She was a country school teacher in South Dakota at the age of 18 and taught for three years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and doing volunteer work at the church wherever they lived. She liked to help others make their lives more meaningful by her positive attitude and inspiration. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Holly. Her family brought her much joy, and she loved the special times with her grandchildren and their families.

Mary was very creative and liked writing poetry about God's creations. Mary's love of music was an inspiration to many, and she said many times, "What would the world be like without music?"

Holly and Mary lived in South Dakota, Lawton and Moville, Iowa, and San Jose, Calif., before moving to Loveland in 1978.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Loveland and also had the loving support of her daughter's church family at Zion Lutheran.

She is survived by four daughters, three sons-in-law, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces [survivors names omitted].

She was preceded in death by her husband Holly Vollenweider Aug. 4, 1981; father Jacob Zeigler in October 1954; mother Lillian Zeigler in July 1961; three brothers, Earl Zeigler in September 1942, Charles Zeigler December 1955, and Ralph Zeigler Dec. 10, 1987; two sisters, Ruth Zeigler March 27, 1998, and Margaret McGaughey Jan. 6, 2000; and one grandson, Allan Graham, July 1, 1988.

Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. today at Allnutt-Hunter Chapel, with family present 6-8 p.m. A prayer and memory service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.

A celebration of Mary's life will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church at Sixth and Grant. Interment will be at Loveland Burial Park.
