Ethel W. Vanaman, 89, of Vineland passed away late Monday, Nov. 26, 2007, to be with our Lord.

Ethel was born in Philadelphia on May 9, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Emily Weir, and the wife of Maurice H. Vanaman for 62 years. Ethel worked as office manager for Western Union in Bridgeton and Vineland. She lived in Vineland for 45 years. She and her husband traveled throughout the United States and Canada. One of her most memorable vacations was when they traveled by mule from the rim of the Grand Canyon to the bottom of the canyon. Ethel was an accomplished artist. She showed versatility in her paintings and painted individuals, animals, lighthouses and ships. She received awards for several of her paintings. Ethel was a member of the Pocahontas Ladies Club. She also was a Sunday school teacher at the Baptist church in Ocean City.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, George Weir; and two sisters, Elizabeth Huber and Jane Weir. Ethel had seven nephews, Walter, Richard, Henry, Benjamin, George, Victor Dayton and Keith Weir; and one niece, Gail Pye.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday at the Hoffman Funeral Homes, 643 Main St., Leesburg. Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will be at the Port Elizabeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Port Elizabeth United Methodist Church.
