William Randall Wolverton, age 92, of 511 Maryland Ave., Nutter Fort died Monday, January 13, 2003 at his daughter's home in Bethel Park, PA.
He was born in Clarksburg on August 30, 1910, a son of the late William H. Wolverton and Lucinda Snider Wolverton.
His wife, Alma C. Wolverton, preceded him in death on April 14, 1992.
Surviving are one son and a daughter-in-law, William A. and Penny Wolverton, Fairmont, WV; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and John Hanley, Bethel Park, PA and Norma Cooper, Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Cathy Allen, Cindy Lutz, Shelly Ozkan, John Hanley, Kelly Humbert and Beth DeMary; nine great grandchildren, Susan, Gabrielle and Audrey Allen, Tyler and Justin Ozkan, Kayla Lutz, Katie, Adam and John Cooper and a special friend, Doris Stiles of Clarksburg, WV.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold F. Wolverton, one grandson, John R. Cooper and one great-grandson, Scott Humbert.

Mr. Wolverton was a longtime member of the Vincent Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Church Choir. His real love was his family, life and friends. He had retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass after thirty seven years service. Also, he had worked for the State of West Virginia for six years and Eagle Glass and Paint for eight years.

Mr. Wolverton was a veteran of the Navy serving aboard the USS CecilJ. Doyle, DE 363, as a Sonarman Petty Officer in the Pacific Theater duringWorld War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of ForeignWars, Meuse Argonne Post # 573 of Clarksburg.

Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Wednesday where a funeralservice will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2003 with the Reverend Olen Butcher- Winfree presiding. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
