Miles was born on the Upper Knoxford family farm and lived there his entire life. Potatoes were grown as the main cash crop and horses were used throughout his life to haul the farm equipment and work in the lumber woods. He was fond of horses and raised five of them from one brood mare. He was self educated as an electrician and auto mechanic. During a number of years the price of potatoes dropped below a dollar a barrel (165 lb.) which was below the cost of growing them. During these years he supplemented family income during winter months by working as an electrician in Perth Andover and Upper Kent. When public electricity was extended from Centreville to rural communities he also wired numerous farm buildings . Collecting payment for the electrical supplies and labour often stretched over a number of years. Although offered jobs as a full time electrician as well as an auto mechanic, he refused to leave the farm. He was determined to carry on the tradition of maintaining a family farm for future generations. Miles died at the age of 47 in 1950, and he never knew that six generations of Wolverton family farming had come to an end in NB.

Rispah graduated in 1925 from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton. She taught school in Durham Bridge, Pleasant Valley, Red Head, and Royalton, where she met and married Miles Wolverton of Knoxford. Following the death of Miles in 1950 at the age of forty seven, she continued to live on the Wolverton farm with her three children. After deciding to sell the farm to a Neighbour in 1956, she lived in Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Marysville and for 22 years in Woodstock, before her death at age eighty nine. Rispah was an active member of the Woodstock United Baptist Church and a Dominion Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society of Canada.
