LARRY A. ABBOTT
Larry A. Abbott, 56, of Union, formerly of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Nehawka, died Friday, February 5, 1999, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1942, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Adrian Adair and Nora Irene (Jones) Abbott.
He was engaged to Judy Attebery.
He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and worked for Harverty's Farm and City Service north of Nebraska City.
He served in the Air Force from 1961 - 1964 and was a disabled veteran. He was a member of Western Start Lodge 2, A.F. & A.M., R.O.E., Aerie 968, all of Nebraska City; American Legion Post 235 of Union; Union Volunteer Fire Department in Union; former member of Nehawka Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Nehawka Town Board.
He is survived by his daughter Dustin Adair Abbott of Blair, Nebraska; son Mathew Lee Abbott of Springfield; sister Wanda Barrett of Nebraska City, Nebraska; brother Tom and wife Mary Lou Abbott of Frederick, Md., Darold and wife Janice Abbott of Elmwood, Nebraska; sister Elinor Vernus and her husband Ray Abbott of Cameron, Missouri; fiancee Judy Attebery of Union, Nebraska and many other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
A funeral service was 11 A.M., Monday, February 8, 1999 at the Union Methodist Church with the Rev. Carolyn Dickinson officiating.
Pallbearers included Glen Keene, Joy Dodd, Bill Bescheinen, Dale Grudman, Clint Kreifels, Dale and Jerry Barrett, and Jim Wadsworth.
Burial was in West Union Cemetery. Military graveside rites was by American Legion Post 235 of Union.
Memorial were suggested to Tabitha House, Union United Methodist Church, or Nebraska City High School Larry Abbott Scholarship Fund.
