"LONE TREE FARMER IS ELECTROCUTED

Estel Ray Halt, 45. a farmer of the Lone Tree community, was electrocuted in an accident at his farm at 7 a.m. Wednesday, January 3rd.

Halt was putting corn into a drier type bin with an elevator, when the elevator apparently slipped on the icy ground and swung around into some high tension wires. Mrs. Halt went to look for her husband when the power went off and feared at first that he had gotten caught in the elevator, but when she went to investigate, she found that he had been electrocuted. He had been born at Cory Aug. 2, 1922.

Halt had resided in the Lone Tree community for about 11 years and before that near Terre Haute. He had been a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness church at Terre Haute.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Virginia Halt, to whom he was married April 1, 1949; a son, David, and two daughters, Jane Halt and Mrs. Linda Couch, all at home; a granddaughter, Mehella Kay Couch; the parents, Virgil and Vera Halt of Terre Haute; two brothers, Robert Halt and Cecil Halt, both of Terre Haute, and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Stewart of Terre Haute."
