The community was made sad last friday, when the death
of Grandpa Woolverton of the Rock Hill Community, was made
known here. Grandpa had been in bad health for quite a
while. The death was not a surprise, but is always sad.
He was 83 years, seven months, and four days old, having
been a consecrated christian since the year 1865,being a
member at the time of his death of the Old Bethel church.
We feel that the church has lost one of its best members, but our loss is heaven`s gain.
He leaves behind his heartbroken wife, seven children, four
boys, three girls, Fed Woolverton, of Pleasant Glade; Bud,
Curtis, and penn of Rock Hill; Mrs. Jim Guinn of Rock Hill,
Mrs. Rena Morris of Mabank; Mrs. Gracie Hall of Roane, Texas; A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
friends to mourn his going away;
Funeral services were held in old Bethel church by his
pastor, Bro. B. C. Dodd of Grand Saline and W. A. T. Murrey
of Myrtle Springs. To the heartbroken wife, children and other relatives we extend our deepest sympathy.

married Elijah Hanks Woolverton Oct. 12, 1868 in Panola co. tx. Mrs S. Z. Woolverton,died at the family home near Pleasant Glade,
Friday morning-Oct. 28, and was buried, saturday morning at
the Old Bethel cemetery, rev. Pen Jones, pastor of the Baptist
church of Ben Wheeler conducting the funeral services.
Mrs. Woolverton was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram
Roquemore, pioneer Texan. She was born in Panola Co.,
Oct. 17, 1849,and at the time of her death was 83 years ,11 days
old. At the age of fourteen she professed religion and united
with the Baptist church of which denomination she has been
a faithful member ever since.
In 1868, She was united in marriage to Elijah hanks Woolverton.
To this union nine children were born, seven of whom survive
their mother.The living children are, F.b., R.P., and C.G. Woolverton
of Pleasant Glade, Mrs. J. H. Guinn of Canton; Mrs. John Morris of Dallas,
and Mrs. Zeb Hall of Pleasant Glade.
The pall-bearers were five grandsons and one grandson-in-law, as follows;
Lester, Leonard and Odell Woolverton, Willy Morris, Eddie Guinn, and Horace
Behamy.Mrs. Woolverton had lived the greater part of her life in
the section where she died, and the bereaved ones have the sympathy
of the pleasant Glade community.
