Arden (Art) Wolverton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family following a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. He was born in Plymouth, Utah, a son of Adam N. Wolverton and Janet Elda Lamb.
While attending Bear River High School, he enjoyed playing basketball and threw the shot put. Following a move to Ogden, he attended Ogden High School and later met his lifetime companion, Vevedeen Roberts. They were married in Evanston, Wyoming on August 18, 1956. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 22, 1963.
He enlisted into the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Wiseman as an Electricians Mate. Upon completion of his Naval Service in 1959, he returned with his family to Ogden and has resided in Pleasant View since 1967.
He is currently a member of the Pleasant View 12th Ward. Arden is a self-taught musician and has entertained thousands of people over the years singing country music and playing guitar.
He supported his family working 31 years at Sears in the Service Department and Building Maintenance, and 10 years in Building Maintenance at IRS. He served 23 years as a volunteer fireman and EMT with Northview Fire Department and was an active member in the Pioneer Chapter of the Utah Old Time Fiddlers. Throughout his life, Arden maintained a love of the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, motorcycle riding, gardening, Dutch Oven cooking, camping and spending time with his family. He took great pleasure doing and caring for others and is spoken of fondly as the Tootsie Roll Grandpa, Ace in the Hole Guy, Music Maker, Appliance Repairman, Handy Man, Camp Chef, Produce Man, My Best Friend and Dad. Following his retirement in 2001, winters were spent in Yuma, Arizona where he continued to entertain, play golf and socialize with friends.
