Johnny Rice, 53, Jacksonville, husband of the former Marie Tippin, Bucklin, was killed instantly at 7 a.m. Saturday when his pickup truck was struck by a Norfolk and Western freight train at a Jacksonville railroad crossing.
Rice, who was employed at Peabody Coal Company, was driving east on a city street when the train struck the truck in the right side. The impact demolished the truck.
He was taken to the Community Hospital, Moberly and then to the Hutton Funeral Home, Macon, where services were held today. Burial was in College Mound Cemetery, Macon.
He is survived by his wife and 13 year old son, Thomas Lee, of the home in Jacksonville; his mother, one brother and one sister, all of Macon.
