George M. Van Allen was born May 23, 1922, to George and Nellie Van Allen of Utica, New York. George passed away February 20, 2017, at 94 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. George served as a Technical Sgt. in the 995th Field Artillery Battalion. After returning from the service he attended and graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in accounting. After a successful career in his field, George retired from ABB-Combustion Engineering Inc. in 1983. He and his wife Lorraine returned to Tulsa in 1985 to be near family and enjoy retirement. Together they shared a love for travel, baseball, backyard cookouts and time with family and friends. When they were not together, George could be found tinkering in the garage, reading in his study or listening to jazz greats of old. Having never lost his love of accounting, he happily accepted the responsibility to work as Treasurer of St. John's Episcopal Church. George was predeceased by his first wife Marjorie Van Allen of Tulsa, Oklahoma and his brother Robert Van Allen of Grants Pass, Oregon. Services will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 2:00, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 South Atlanta Place, Tulsa. A family internment will immediately follow in the Garden of the Resurrection. A reception will be held afterwards in the Common Room the church.
