Obituary
Barton Furnas Seever, 83, of Salinas, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2009 in his home after a long battle with Lymphoma. Bart was born January 2, 1926 in Carlisle, Indiana. The family moved to California in 1940. In January of 1944, he graduated from high school, joined the U.S. Navy and married Grace Schealer of Merced. Two children were born to that union; Bart Jr. and Sherry Sharon.

Bart served during WWII as a Signal Man 2nd Class on board the USS Berrien from 1944-45. He was in the landing operation at Iwo Jima where he received the Purple Heart when a shell exploded on deck, injuring his leg. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he worked as a Salesman/Manager for McMahan Furniture Company for 16 years and later for Packwood's Furniture before entering Real Estate in 1974. He was a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years and was a member of the Monterey County Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and an Honorary Life Member of the California Association of Realtors. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 46 years. After retiring from Real Estate he enjoyed volunteering around the church facilities.

Bart and Arduth Pueschel were married on March 21, 1964. Daughter, Diane Marie completed their family. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a top priority. He and Arduth enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and abroad with family and friends.

Survivors: His loving wife of 45 years, Arduth; son, Bart Jr. (Janice) Seever of Queen Creek, AZ and daughter, Diane (Steve) Schneider of Danville, CA; 12 Grandchildren; 25 Great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Isbell and Renna (Ken) Collie and brother, Bryon Seever, all of CA, plus many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, daughter Sherry Acevedo and brothers Frank and Fred Seever.

The family expresses gratitude for the excellent care of Dr. Stampleman, her medical staff and the Central Coast Hospice.

Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1st at First Presbyterian Church, 830 Padre Drive, Salinas.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Central Coast Hospice or the donor's favorite charity."
