Mrs. C.W. Smith dies in Detroit

Former Spartanburg woman passes in Western city. Will be buried at Oakwood this morning

Mrs. Charles W Smith, nee Miss Louise Pocock, age 40, died in Detroit Thursday after a brief illness of pneumonia. Her body arrived in Spartanburg last night at 8 o'clock and the funeral will be held this morning at 10:30 o'clock at Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was the wife of Charles W. Smith, who at one time was manager of the National Biscuit Company of this city. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Pocock, who for a time made his home in Spartanburg, where he did a general contracting business.

Mrs. John Bomar, wife of the pastor of the First Baptist Church, of Charleston is a sister. Dr. and Mrs. Bomar and their four children are in Spartanburg for the funeral. Mrs. Smith in addition to her sister and mother, is survived by her husband and one child, Louie, age 6 years.

Mrs. Smith had many friends in Spartanburg who will be grieved to hear of her unexpected death.
