"Scleeta Hudson is a dear, dear cousin whom I finally met
in 1991 at the Harris Reunion in Adamsville, Tennessee. She
is a first cousin of my grandfather, and as you see from her
chart, she is doubly descended from the Hanks family. I also
visited with her in her home in 1993 and made a taped
interview about her remembrances of the Littlefields,
Harrises, and related families.
She was born November 14, 1908 and grew up around
Adamsville, Tennessee and attended the Primitive Baptist
Church there. At age 4 she remembered that she lived in the
Gideon Lindsey Harris home (her great-grandfather), and at
age 10 she lived in the James David Harris house (her uncle).
Also as a child she lived in the Luther Rice Littlefield home
(her great-grandfather). She has been a big help to Ann
Coleman and myself in documenting some of the early history
of the Littlefields and Harrises in McNairy County,
Tennessee.
Scleeta married Russell David Plunk on Dec. 27, 1926 at
the courthouse in Selmer, Tennessee. They were married for
42 years, had 8 children, and farmed near Adamsville and
Martin, Tennessee. He died April 15, 1969, and Scleeta
married secondly to William Taft Hudson on July 10, 1971.
Taft passed away a little over a year ago. Scleeta is one of
our older subscribers. She will be 88 this year."

SCLEETA PLUNK HUDSON

MARTIN - Mrs. Scleeta Plunk Hudson, 89 of Martin, died Tuesday, November 25, 1997, at Volunteer General Hospital, Martin.

Services will be a 1 p.m. Friday at Mars Chapel Church of Christ in Leapwood with Elder Houston Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Mars Chapel Cemetery in Leapwood.

Friends my call at Murphy Funeral Home in Martin from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hudson was born November 14, 1908, in Adamsville, daughter of the late Luther and Mollie Harris Walker. She was a homemaker and a member of the Macedonai Primitive Baptist Church, Martin. She was the widow of Russell Plunk and Taft Hudson.

Survivors include four sons, Doyles W. Plunk and Ronald Plunk, both of Martin, L.C. Plunk and James Plunk, both of Sharon; four daughters, Mrs. Leatrice Copeland of Wilmington, N.C., Mrs. Davie Ashe of Adamsville, Mrs. Erlene Cantrell of Martin, and Mrs. Dorothy Leggins of Kingston; five stepsons, Larry Hudson of Reagan, Kenneth Hudson and W.T. Hudson, both of Sardin, Dwight Hudson of Lexington and Jerry Hudson of Beech Bluff; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Jimmie Tucker of Inville and Mrs. Karen Woodard of Reagan; a brother, Reburn Walker of Adamsville; two sisters, Mrs. Lavon Treese of Adamsville and Mrs. Florence Watson of Florida; and 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a great, great grandson, 14 step-grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.
