Gale Pence Ray, 88, of Edinburg, Virginia, died Sunday, April 26, 2015.

She was born April 11, 1927 in Lantz Mill, Shenandoah County, VA. She is the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Litten) Pence.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Ray; four sisters, Lucille Derieux, Betty Lou Geist, Virginia D'joemena and Margaret Baty; and three brothers, John Pence, Russell Pence and Dean Pence.

Surviving are her son, James Ray (BJ) of AR; two brothers, William Pence (Maxine) and Richard Pence (Trudy), all of Edinburg; sister-in-law, Syvilla Pence; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Service, Bowman's Crossing.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Union Forge United Methodist Church in Edinburg, by Pastor J. Robert Berghuis. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Richard Pence, David Pence, Jeff Pence, Wesley Pence, Nathan Pence and Jake Pence.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Tony Pence, Walter Derieux, Jim Keys, David Derieux, John Pence, Jr. and Steve Heishman.

A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Memorial contributions my be made to Union Forge United Methodist Church, 131 Union Forge Church Road, Edinburg, VA 22824.

Arrangements are in the care of Valley Funeral Service, Bowmans Crossing.
