Martha Jean Shacklee

Martha Jean Shacklee, 79, of Terre Haute, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, in her residence. She worked at the Vigo County Federal Credit Union for over 30 years as manager and treasurer. She was born Sept. 25, 1926, to Lee Mullikin and Mabel Thompson Mullikin, in Terre Haute. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Shacklee, who died in 1999.

She is survived by three sons, Charles R. Shacklee and his wife Darhis of Terre Haute, Edward Shacklee of Washington D.C., and David J. Shacklee and his wife Michelle of Kokomo; three grandchildren, Michael Shacklee of Terre Haute, Justin Shacklee of Kokomo, and Nichole Nevins of San Diego; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Nevins; one brother, Robert Mullikin and his wife Virginia of Decatur, Ga.; nieces, nephews and cousins. She also was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Rosemary Mullikin; and one brother, Joseph Mullikin.

She graduated from Garfield High School. She was a director of Indiana Credit Union League. She also was a member of Serra Club and St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she had served on the church Parish Council. She was involved with the Living Rosary Altar Society and was president for two years. She volunteered at St. Patrick Catholic Church assisting Monsignor Moran, helping with funeral dinners, held communion services, had sacristy duties, and belonged to Christ Renews His Parish (CHRP). She also worked at the Christmas store and was active in the Terre Haute Deanery of the Council of Catholic Women.
