JoAnn Woolverton Newman McKay, 78, of Mirror, Canada, passed away on March 8, 2015. Burial will be in Holleman Cemetery in Oak Flat, Texas.

JoAnn was born in Oak Flat, Rusk County, Texas, to the late Horace Buford and Ada Vaughn Woolverton. She graduated from Laneville High School. After growing up in Oak Flat, she spent most of her life in Dallas, Houston, and several places in western Canada. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Newman; daughter, Judy Black; sister, Evelyn Allen; and brothers: Bill, Mack and J.D. Woolverton.

Survivors include her husband, Len McKay; son, Wesley Newman and wife; brothers, Gene Woolverton and wife Jeanne, and Buford Woolverton and wife Margie; sisters, Clara Smart, Lottie Johnson, Dehlia Parsons, and sister-in-law, Dale Woolverton; grandchildren, Mikey, Zachary, and Kyla Newman and Stephanie Slavin and husband Shalom; great-grandchild, Shaindel Slavin; many nieces and nephews and friends.
