Isaac Judson "I.J." McAdams, Jr., 87, of Salisbury died Saturday, Jan. 07, 2012 at the Brian Center Health and Retirement of Mooresville.

Born Nov. 14, 1924 in Salisbury, he was the son of Isaac Judson McAdams, Sr. and Lola Motley McAdams. He was educated in the Spencer schools, graduated from Spencer High School and attended Pfeiffer College. Mr. McAdams was a veteran of the US Marines during World War II and was employed for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad in Jacksonville, Fla. before retiring.

He was a member of Neel Road Baptist Church, and the Virgil Dominick Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the choir.

Mr.McAdams was preceded in death by a daughter, Sue McAdams and a sister, Merle McAdams. His wife and step-relatives survive him.

A memorial service was conducted at 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 9 at Summersett Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Neil Westbrook, pastor of Neel Road Baptist Church, officiating.
