A graduate of McClatchy High School and a Marine veteran of the Korean War.

Worked for SMUD from 1954 until his retirement on Dec. 30, 1987. He will be remembered and missed by his family and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Mayfield; mother, Vera W. ''Honey'' Griffiths (Robert); brother, Lt. Douglas S. Mayfield; and his son, Douglas.

Survived by his wife, Ruth; sister, Penny Humphreys; brothers, Tim and Kelly; and his children, Whitney, Rick, Janet, Daniel, Tim and Steve; eleven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Loving uncle of many.

Services at Wesleyan Methodist Church, 6600 Steiner Dr., Sacramento 95823.

Interment at Camellia Memorial Lawn.
