David Lee Ford, age 79, of St. Charles went to meet Jesus on the morning of Thursday September 29, 2016 at Delnor Hospital, Geneva.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Marilyn J. Ford. Son, David Kevin Ford of California, Daughter, Lori Anne Ford-Schaben (Scott) of Rockford. Son, David Wade Ford of Tennessee, Daughter,Vicki L. Haviland (Robert) New Jersey. Grandson Robert A. Haviland (Emily). Also his brother, William C. Ford (Nancy) of Urbana, Il. Along with many loved Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. and Christine Ford. Brother, Robert B. Wood and Beloved grandson, Giuliano Alessandro Ford .
David Served proudly for the US Navy, As an Aviation Electrician’s Mate Petty Officer 3rd Class (AE3). On the USS Randolph, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and the USS Saratoga; United States Aircraft Carrriers. His proudest accomplishment was working on the Mirror Landing System on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
He served the Two Rivers Council. B.S.A. as Scout Master for Troop 8 . It was known for being the only troop in a four state region which had its own Drum and Bugle Corp. and was also winner of several Presidential Awards at competitive scouting events. David also was Scout Master of Troop 52.
In 1965 David became an active member of The Rotary Club of St. Charles until the time of his death. He is a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church of St. Charles.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 101 South 6th Ave St. Charles. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery Campton Twp. In honor of David, contributions may be sent to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or The Rotary Club of St. Charles.
