Gerald E. Sands, 83, of Tunkhannock, passed away Friday morning, Oct. 26, 2012.

He was born in Sayre on July 1, 1929, a son of the late Earl and Mildred (Harding) Sands.

He was a 1948 graduate of Tunkhannock High School and soon after married Annabelle Lunger on Dec. 31, 1948. Gerald worked for Gracy Farms of Scranton as a delivery man for many years, worked at the Dietrich Theater and Starlight Drive-In, operated Tunkhannock Area School District buses, founded and operated AJ Taxi, and was also employed for 20 plus years at Sherwood Chevrolet. Gerald was a member of the Tunkhannock Kiwanis, Triton Fire Company, Tunkhannock Beagle Club, Masonic Lodge 248, and was a proud supporter of the Tunkhannock Area School Athletics.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Dennis Sands.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, Tunkhannock, with the Rev. Peter F. Geschwindner of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home Sunday. '

Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery.
