Robert L. Murphy, age 68, of Madison, a former Belleville resident, died suddenly at his home on Jan. 15, 2007. He was born on July 3, 1938, in Madison, the son of Henry and Loretta (Fritz) Murphy. Bob was a l957 graduate of Belleville High School. On October 26, 1957, he married his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life, Claudette Loughead at the Grace United Methodist Church, Belleville. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from l957 until l960. He farmed near Belleville for 25 years and worked for AMPI as a fieldman for 15 years. Bob retired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture as a Milk Standards Technician. He was a member of the New Glarus Masonic Lodge No. 310, Madison Hiram Lodge No. 5, and was active in the Zor Shrine as a member of the Pipe and Drum Corps.

Bob is survived by his wife, Claudette Murphy of Madison; his mother, Loretta Murphy of Madison; a son, John (Marie) Murphy of Belleville; four daughters, Joan (Rick) Funseth of New Glarus, Ruth (Steve) Zuber of New Glarus, Mary (Gary) Francois of Belleville, and Patricia (Bob) Jenkins of Verona; a brother, Bill (Patti) Murphy of Belleville; 14 grandchildren, Scott (Layla) Solberg, Joshua Funseth, Tony and Michael Castle, Ashley, Hailey and Hannah Zuber, Rochelle, Janelle and Danny Francois, Kyle and Alex Jenkins, and Nick and Kaitlin Murphy; a great-grandson, Quinton Solberg; and a niece, Kelli (Gene) Schomburg or Middleton. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Murphy.

Burial will be in the East Dayton Cemetery.

BELLEVILLE - Claudette Mary Murphy, Age 78, of Belleville passed away at her home with her family by her side on October 22, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 3, 1936 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison to her parents Claude and Edith (Larson) Loughead. Claudette graduated from Belleville High School in 1954. On October 26, 1957 she was united in marriage to the love of her life and high school sweetheart Robert Murphy at the Grace United Methodist Church in Belleville. She farmed alongside her husband and also worked at M&I Bank in Madison for many years. Claudette enjoyed socializing with family and friends and appreciated the spirit found in her small community.

Claudette is survived by her children, Joan (Rick) Funseth of New Glarus, Ruth (Steve) Zuber of New Glarus, Mary (Gary) Francois of Belleville, Patricia (Bob) Jenkins of Verona, and John (Marie) Murphy of Belleville; grandchildren, Scott, Josh, Ashley (Alex), Tony, Hailey, Hannah, Rochelle, Janelle (Ryan), Dan (Erin), Kyle, Alex, Nick, and Kaitlin; and great-grandchildren, Quinton, Ethan, Tristan, Addison, Ana, Maelyn, and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and a grandson Michael.
