I will submit to you: this is granny Major because few ever knew her by any other name. If ever there was a more tender loving kind-hearted soul, that person has been canonized.

Born in Olcott, Reno county, Kansas.

Mary Helen's father, E.D. Little worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad many years. Olcott is the site of his wedding, the birthplace of his daughter, Mary Helen Little Major.



Mary Helen was wed to Onia Robert Major. She bore four children: O.R.(Bob)Jr., Dorothy Jean, Richard (died an infant), and Theodore William. The O.R.Majors were long time residents of the Groom community living on a farm North of the city.
Mrs. O.R.Major, as she continued to refer to herself until death, was a devout Christian and member of the First Methodist Church in Groom.
