QUIGLEY, Jewel E., 98, was born on January 20, 1922 and passed away on January 31, 2020 at Heather Hill Healthcare, New Port Richey, FL. She was born in Lake City, FL and resided in Tampa, Fl for 90 years.

She was predeceased in death by her father Claude Lindsey, mother Blanche Lindsey, sisters Elsie Schaub and Joy Lewis, and her spouse of 76 years, John W. “Jack” Quigley. She is survived by daughters; Suzanne E. (Stuart) Gildard, Holiday, FL and Gail L. (Dwayne) Alexander Port Richey, FL, and granddaughters; Christen S. Gildard, New Port Richey, FL and April L. Alexander, Knoxville, TN., nephews; Bob Lewis, Cascade, VA and Lindsey Lewis, Eden, NC and nieces; Ann (Adrian) Higgins, Odessa, FL and Kay Taylor, Tampa, FL.

Jewel was primarily a homemaker. She was previously a member of Palma Ceia Christian Church where she served as Church Secretary for several years. She enjoyed many activities over the years including participating in her husband’s Maas Brothers bowling league, hosting weekly poker games with friends, and weekend fishing trips in Homosassa Springs with neighbors.

Jewel was very creative and always mastered the popular craft of the day including cracked marble decorations and macramé wall hangers. Later in life, she decided to try her hand at painting and took lessons and became an accomplished artist. She created over 30 paintings some of which hang in the hallways of Heather Hill Healthcare Center where she spent the last two years of her life.

She also enjoyed the thrill of bingo at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, playing lotto, and sharing her scratch-off winnings with her daughters and friends. She was an avid animal lover and adored her dogs, Terry and Sherry, as well as her daughter’s, granddaughter’s, and friends’ dogs.

Jewel was quite the colorful character. Her 90th birthday cake sums it up the best “90 and still full of piss and vinegar”! That held true to her last day. She will be missed by her family and friends who will cherish her memory.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610. Garden of Memories FH.
