DeWitt Clinton Wolverton, son of Luther and Electa Wolverton, was born in Greenville, Michigan, May 20, 1866, and departed this life at Flint, Michigan, January 25, 1931. He came to Flint twelve years ago. On August 1, 1900, he married Mrs. Gertrude Lewis Carrill. To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy. Surviving to mourn their loss are, his wife; two sons Forest E and Martin; two daughters Mrs. Blanche Bentley and Mrs. Esther Cross, all of Flint; one brother; other friends and relatives. He was converted when only sixteen years of age, was sanctified soon after and joined the Free Methodist Church, of which he remained a faithful and most consistent member to the end. He prayed much for his children, calling them all by name. Funeral sservices were hold in the Oak Street Free Methodist Church, Flint, by the writer, assisted by Revs, A.L. Brown and W.J. Cross, Sr. Text Psalm 116:15. Burial in Bristol Cemetery. H.E Lieninger

Gertrude Wolverton, daughter of John Lewis and Emaline Strank, grandaughter of Henry Strank and Catherine Briggs, of Eaton Rapids, Eaton, County, Michigan, born 28th day of March 1876, passed away 3 February 1973 at the home of her daughter, Ethel Mecomber. Although she was the only daughter of John and Emealine Strank she had six half brothers and four half sisters.
Gertrude was left motherless at the age of 10 months she was cared for until she was seven years old by her father and brothers. Her father was a wounded veteran of the Civil War, serving with the 21st Michigan Infantry. At the age of 16 she met and married George Carrill and they made their home in Kalkaska, Michigan. From this union were born thee children; Ethel Mae, Jesse Rae, and Fern Arletta. George died in February 1899.
After George died she lived with the VanWagoner Family of Cedar Rapids, Michigan. There she met and married DeWitt Wolverton in 1900. The Wolvertons were a pioneer family of Michigan and had been in Michigan since 1843, migrating from Conquest, Cayuga Co, New York. Gertrude and DeWitt had five children, Forest Elton, Clarence Martin, Blanche Olive, Leona Esther and Donald Earl. In 1919 they moved their family to Flint, Michigan. She was a lifelong resident of Michigan and a resident of Flint 53 years.
She is survived by her children (except Donald wh0 died in infancy,) 24 grandchildren, 54 great grand children, 25 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. To her sorrowing friends and relatives it is a consolation to know that a good woman who has lived a long and glorious life, has gone to her reward and that her works will follow her.
