Obituary
Hattie I. Reed was born near Sunbury, Pa., November 4, 18858. [sic] She was married to James B. Lesher on December 17, 1878. They lived in Pennsylvania for three years, then moving to Michigan where they resided four years. Since 1887 they have been residents of Hall county, Neb., locating near Abbott, Neb. Thus for thirty four years they have lived in Hall county, fifteen of which have been spent in Grand Island. To this union four children were born: Gertrude, who has cared for her mother through her years of sickness; Rosa Star, residing at Trumbull, Neb., Pearl, deceased, and Carl, of Colorado.
Mrs. Lesher was an invalid for fifteen years, the past five years much of the time not being able to leave her bed or wheel chair. Through all her suffering she was cheerful, a good mother, a faithful wife and home body. She united with the Baptist church at the age of 17 and, while not able to attend through the later years, she was interested in all activities pertaining to the church. She was thoroughly respected and admired by all, and beloved by a host of friends. The funeral service at the home was a beautiful one, conducted by Dean Charles Firth of the College, and Rev. R. R. Richards. There was a large concourse of friends and neighbors and a wealth of floral offering attested, in a small measure of the respect in which she was held.
Interment took place in the Grand Island cemetery.
