Byron J. (Barney) McCune, 68, of Flora, died in his home Sunday of an apparent heart attack. Born April 19, 1908, in Carroll County, he was the son of Joseph and Ursel Jordan McCune. He was married in 1937 to Helen Lee, who survives. He retired in 1970 from U.S. Steel Corp. in Gary. He returned to Carroll County six years ago and had lived at Delphi before moving to Flora three years ago. Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Virgil Cox of Hobart, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were this morning (Wednesday) at Reinke Funeral Hone, Flora. Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Helen McCune, 72, a former Flora resident, died at the Milner Health Care Center, Rossville, at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 1979. Born in Carroll County on July 31, 1907, she was the daughter of Ray E. and Mina Green Lee. She was married in 1930 to Chester Unroe, who died in 1934. She was married to Byron McCune, who died June 6, 1976. She was a member of the Flora Church of the Brethren. Surviving are one daughter, Beverly Cox, Hobart; one brother, Kenneth Lee, Park Rapids, Minn; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday at the Reinke Funeral Home with the Rev. Vernon Powell officiating. Burial was at the Maple Lawn Cemetery.
