Glenn William "Lucky" Luckock, 87, of Savannah, Ga., husband of Carol Ann Krutz Luckock, died Tuesday evening, April 27, 2010, at Savannah Specialty Center under the care of Odyssey Hospice.
Born in Verona, he was a son of the late William Henry Luckock Jr. and the late Mary J. (Molleston) Luckock. Glenn was a lifetime resident of Allegheny County.
He served three years with the Fifth Air Force, of which 29 months were overseas as a communication man with the 324th Airdrome Squadron. Glenn saw action in New Guinea, Dutch East Indies, Philippines, Okinawa and the Japan Occupation.
He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal with two Bronze Stars, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation with Bronze Star, Army of Occupation Medal with Japanese Clasp, the American Campaign Service Medal and the Victory Medal for World War II. Glenn also received the sharp shooter award on the 30 cal. Carbine, 2D CL 30 and 50 cal. machine gun.
He enjoyed 34 years with PPG Industries Research and Development Center, where he assisted in the formulation and technical service of coil, container and general industries finishes. Glenn acquired several United States Patents, one of which is embossed and mounted on a metal plaque. He also illustrated graphic art layout and design for company publications in technical magazines and college institution seminars. Glenn enjoyed traveling with his wife, Carol, on business trips and vacations. Both loved music and rhythm and melody for ball room and roller skate dancing. They belonged to the Professional Guild of the National Amateur Roller Skating Association and taught dance and figure along with beginner classes for many years at the Ches-A-Rena Rink located in Cheswick. They also promoted and directed Girl and Boy Scout merit programs for individual sport achievement. They received letters of commendation for the efforts of many years. Glenn also enjoyed working on the family tree farm overlooking the Town of Freeport. He was a member of the Societies for Paint Technology of Pittsburgh, a lifetime member of VFW Post 894 and American Legion Post 0683. Glenn was an avid golfer, worker of art and antiques collector and enjoyed gardening, yard work and traveling with his wife, Carol.
Surviving are his wife, Carol Ann (Krutz) Luckock, of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Starr, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ruth McWilliams, of Penn Hills; his in-laws, Samuel and Virginia Krutz, of Natrona Heights, Mildred Lutz, of Freeport, and Gary and Marlene Balbo, of Savannah, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, in Tarentum.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Duster Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Stephen M. Smalley.
Entombment, with full military honors, will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, in Natrona Heights.

Carol Ann (Krutz) Luckock, 81, of Savannah, Ga., widow of Glenn William "Lucky" Luckock, died Friday afternoon, June 25, 2010, at Savannah Commons under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Brackenridge, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Krutz Sr. and Adele R. (Nowicki) Krutz.
Carol enjoyed Sunday morning early service with her husband, Glenn, at his church, St. Barnabas Episcopal, and was an active contributing member of Blessed Sacrament Church, of Natrona Heights.
Carol completed her formal education at Point Park College and assisted her father in the family meat market business until its closing, then enjoyed working at Gulf Technical research lab, in Hamerville, for six years until their disbandment.
She was a member of the USARSA (United States Armature Roller Skating Association) and skated professionally with her husband at Ches-A-Rena rink for many years. They designed and directed annual public and private skating classes.
Carol earned letters of commendation from Girl Scouts of Southwestern Pennsylvania and was made an honorary troop leader, complimented for excellent instruction and personal merit achievements and also the manner of teaching children of special needs to whom she gave loving and extra attention.
Carol enjoyed close family ties, a lifetime of friends, gardening, golfing, theatrical arts, dancing, singing, artistic skating, travel, home making and music of rhythm and melody.
Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Lutz, of Freeport, and Gary and Marlene Balbo, of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Samuel and Virginia Krutz, of Natrona Heights; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, Tarentum. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Natrona Heights, conducted by the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner.
Entombment will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.
