"A. R. VAN HORN DEAD
The Veteran Costumer Passes Away ay Atlantic City
A. R. Van Horn, the veteran costumer, died yesterday at Atlantic City, from Bright's disease. Mr. Van Horn was about 65 years of age, and was probably the best know costumer in the country. He established himself in this city about thirty years ago, when he appeared as an actor in several of the local stock companies. During the Centennial he, with James H. Meade, husband of Lucille Western, leased the Museum at Ninth and Arch streets, presenting the drama of "The Two Orphans." The piece was the biggest success of the year.
Afterward he leased the Chestnut Street Theatre for a summer season. He then branched out as a costumer, with a store on Ninth street, above Arch. His body was brought to the city last night and taken to his home at Wissahickon."
