William “Paul” Wolverton, 89, of New Matamoras, OH, died Thursday, December 18 at the Genesis Health Care, New Martinsville Center. He was born, January 14, 1925, in West Union, WV. He was the son of the late Lloyd B. and Nancy Berthina Cather Wolverton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Kemper Wolverton in 2012 as well as a brother and three sisters. Paul was a graduate of Salem College and Ohio University. He taught school at Matamoras High School and Frontier High School until his retirement, where he was known as “Doc”.

He is survived by his children, Becky (Dick) Mullett, Kemp (Chris) Wolverton, Mary Crawford, and Robin Bastian, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, including good friends and neighbors, Jim Delong and Pete Chapman.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 P. M. at the Ingram Funeral Home in St. Marys, WV. Burial will be in the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Marietta, OH.
