Calvina Burnett

Margaret Calvina (Joiner) Hunter Burnett, 104, of Union City, died Nov. 19, 2013, at her home.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jim Calhoun, Tim Atkins and Betsy Sutherland officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Perry Burnett, Hunter Burnett, Wynn Burnett, Ben Burnett, Luke Burnett, Jay Burnett, Jim Burnett, Rob Joyner and Dick Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Wood and Robert Wood.

The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First United Methodist Church.

She was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Union City daughter of the late Robert Clifford and Jeanie Lee (Moore) Joyner. She married the Rev. Robert Junius Hunter June 28, 1932. He died March 9, 1959. She then married William Perry Burnett Sr. Aug. 10, 1968. He died Dec. 21, 1982. She was a bookkeeper for the former Burnett Shoe Store and for the former Burdick Insurance Agency, both in Union City. She was a member of Union City First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the former Sherwood Garden Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Burnett of Union City; three grandsons, Perry Burnett and Wynn Burnett, both of Union City, and Hunter Burnett of The Hague, Netherlands; six great-grandsons; her great-granddaughter; her stepdaughter, Frances (Burnett) Adams of Houston; three step-grandchildren; her nephew and his wife, Rob and Lou Joyner of Union City; and her caregivers, Ruth Westmoreland, Katherine Warren, Judy Cheatham and Nina Mitchell.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Perry Burnett Jr.; her grandson, John Burnett; and her brother, Clifford Joyner Jr.
