Mary Ann Sharp Hughes was the first daghter and first child of Zachariah D. and Elizabeth Yoders Sharp. Mary Ann was born in June 1824, near Carter's Creek, Pennsylvania., and remained at home until the others had all left. She was then married to James Hughes, of Amity, Her husband was 22 years her senior and had been married before and had children. Mary Ann never had children of her own. She was well loved by her nieces and nephews. She was very active in the Presbytrian Church of Amity. She lived 34 years after the death of her husband.
