"R. Kimber Opp
R. Kimbr Opp, 73, of 355 St. David's Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 1990, in the Divine Providence Hospital emergency room after bein stricken at home.

He was an accountant for 35 years at the former Jones and Laughlin Wire Rope Co., Muncy, and its successor, now Bridon American Corp.

Following his retirement in 1978, Mr. Opp was a bookkeeper at the former Lycoming County Crippled Childrens' Society for five years.

He was a former member of the National Assn. of Accountants.

He served in the Army Air Corps in 1933.

He was a member of Muncy Lodge 299, F&AM, and the Williamsport Consistory.

He and his wife, the former Jeannette Hester, observed their 51st wedding anniversary last August.

Born March 25, 1916, in Clarkstown, he was a daughter [sic] of David and Ocie McCarty Opp.

Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Rodney, of South Williamspport, R. Stephen, of DuBoistown, and Richard, of Muncy; a brother, Homer, and sister, Mrs. Ruth Hartzelll,both of Muncy, and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are being handled by Wallis', 121 South Main Street, Muncy."

Jeannette H. Opp, 90, a resident of Muncy, passed away at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 in the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born in Muncy, Lycoming County, Pa. on Saturday, June 28, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mabel (Reed) Hester.

Jeannette was the widow of Robert Kimber Opp who preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1990.

She was a 1937 graduate of Muncy High School.

Jeannette enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, crafts and bird watching. Jeannette especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard K. and Beverly J. Opp, Muncy; Rodney H. and Connie Opp, South Williamsport and Robert Stephen Opp, Montoursville. Jeannette is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walton Hester and Mark Hester.
