Marvin Clinton Pence Jr., 80, formerly of Shenandoah County died Sunday, June 15 at Nokesville.
He was born June 21, 1933 in Shenandoah County, son of the late Marvin Clinton Pence Sr. and Mary Ellen Coffelt Pence.
Mr. Pence was a 1951 graduate of Edinburg High School. He formerly worked at VDOT in Edinburg, Johnny Pool Construction in Mt. Jackson, Sidney R. Johnston in Arlington and Martin and Gass Inc in Merrifield. He was a member of Nokesville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Clara Haun Pence; three sons, Earl Clinton Pence of Stafford, Ricky Lee Pence of Manassas and David Alan Pence of Rixeyville; four brothers, Fred Pence of Waynesboro, Richard Pence, Douglas Pence and Guy Pence, all of Edinburg; two sisters, Bettie Pence Cook of Woodstock and Darlene Stultz Pence of New Market; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
Burial was at Cedarwood Cemetery, Edinburg.

Clara Haun Pence, 85, of Nokesville, VA entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Clara was born August 18, 1930. She was a 1951 graduate of Edinburg High School. Clara was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Marvin Clinton Pence, Jr. whom she married September 29, 1951. She was also predeceased by her three brothers, Charles McInturff, Howard McInturff and Jake Haun and two sisters Mary Bright and Betty Shipe.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Clara was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was also an avid sports fan of baseball and hockey and enjoyed watching her Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals games.
Clara had an unwavering faith in God. She was a long standing member of Arlington Forest United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer in the kitchen for many years. After moving to Nokesville, VA in 1988 she and her husband attended Nokesville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and also a volunteer in the kitchen. More recently she and her son Ricky Pence joined Buckhall United Methodist Church where they attended frequently.
Clara is survived by her three sons and spouses; Earl Clinton Pence and wife Emma Harrison of Stafford, VA, Ricky Lee Pence of Manassas, VA and David Alan Pence and his wife Connie of Rixeyville, VA; one loving sister Hilda Lindamood Keller; five grandchildren, Kevin Pence, Kayla Pence, Julie Campbell, Chuck Bretzin and Martin Bretzin and two great grandchildren Brandon Jenkins and Skye Campbell. Special friends embraced as family include Gamble & Jeff Hanes, Polly & Howard “Peanut” McClanahan and Ruby Douglas.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral Home in Woodstock, VA. Reverend Linda Monroe will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg, VA. Pallbearers will be Perry Benshoof, Martin Bretzin, Chris Campbell, Jimmy Conner, Brandon Jenkins and Mike Lindamood.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Dellinger Funeral home.
A Celebration of Life service will also be held at Buckhall United Methodist Church, Manassas, VA., Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
