Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident Tunney Francis Waterman will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Cortez Cemetery.

He was born Oct. 5, 1922 in Decatorville, Mo., to Mark and Rhoda Pearl (Webster) Waterman. He died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 82.

On April 28, 1945 in Cortez, he married Betty Lou Harris. He enjoyed collecting antiques and fishing. One of his favorite pastimes was watching very old western movies.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Lou Waterman; children, Arie David Waterman and wife, Lucille, of all of Cortez; Ernest Mark Waterman and wife, Andrea, of Upland, Calif.; Aleta Marie Huck and husband, Robert, of Clayton, Calif.; Vera Mae Walker of Edmonton, Canada; Greta Lou Meyer and husband, Gary, of Jerome, Idaho; and Janet Lee Stanko and husband, Steve, of Grand Junction, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister, Joseph Alfred Waterman of Sunnyside, Wash.; and Martha Mary Ball of Lebanon, Mo. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Memorial contributions can be made at First National Bank.

Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Betty Lou Waterman, former area resident, will be held on Friday, October 9 at 10 a.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.

Betty was born on December 2, 1926 in Frederick, Oka. the daughter of William Earl and Orpha Hazel Garvin Harris and she passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Hope West Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, Colo. Betty married Tunney Frances Waterman on April 28, 1945.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, sewing and embroidering in her spare time.

Betty is survived by her children, Janet Stanko (Steve) of Grand Junction, Colo., Greta Meyer (Gary) of Jerome, Ida., Vera Walker (Richard) of Edson, Alberta, Canada, Mark Waterman (Andrea) of Upland, Calif., Aleta Huck (Bob) of Clayton, Calif., and Arie Waterman (Lucile) of Cortez; her sister, Hazel Gohr of Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband; and her siblings, Bill Harris, Lucile Semideni, J.D. Harris, John Harris, Thurman Harris and Ruby Jean Barber.
