"J. WILLIAM JOHNSTON DIES IN HIS 55TH YEAR

J. William Johnston, well known salesman in Watt and Shand's department store and a prominent member of the First Presbyterian church, died in his home, 121 East Clay street, Monday night at 10 o'clock, of a complication of diseases aged 55 years. He had been ill only two weeks.

He was a son of the late John and Mary Johnston and was born in Lebanon county. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church in which he was an elder, secretary of the Sunday school, and an active member of the various church organizations. He was a member of the Knights of Malta, of White Cross Commandery No. 159 and of the Sons of Veterans. He was employed in the gents' furnishing department fo Watt and Shand's store for more than seventeen years. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Lillian M. Harman; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Clark, of Harrisburg, and one brother, S. Grant Johnston, of this city.

Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Private interment will be in Lancaster cemetery."
