Obituary (Edited):

Emil R. “Bob” Wegs, 76, of Moberly, died Friday morning, Oct. 5, 2012, at the University Hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at his home Thursday evening.

A Christian Mass of the Resurrection was held Oct. 8, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Moberly. Inurnment and military honors will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until service time at the church.

He was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Kansas City, to E.J. and Ona Wegs.

Bob graduated from Moberly High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960 and worked on his family farm and at his dad’s sheet metal business.

He retired after 30 years with Farmland Industries. He was a member of St. Pius X Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed dancing and working in his garden.

He is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; four children, Carol Jones (Glen) of Boonville, Chris Wegs of Moberly, Debbie Liverar (Michael) of New Florence and Scott Wegs (Joy) of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Helen Wegs of Columbia, Dorothy Irons of Moberly and Doris Hoefer from out-of-state; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, B.J. “Buddy” Wegs; sister, Rosemary Dunwoody; his parents; and his stepmother, Dora Wegs.

Arrangements are by Cater Funeral Home.
