Obituary: Boyd Harlan

Boyd Lindsey Harlan, 48, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly of Columbia, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Port Charlotte.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until time of services Thursday in the Fireplace Room of the church.

Mr. Harlan was born May 26, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to Erma Rose Lindsey Harlan and was adopted by William Marion Harlan in August 1952.

He married Pamela Renee Cochran, and she survives.

He graduated from Hickman High School, then attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and Lincoln University in Jefferson City.

He was an officer with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Jefferson City Police Department. He also worked as an investigator for the Division of Family Services and the Medical Examiner’s Office in Jackson County. At the time of his death, he was a forensics specialist for the Charlotte County, Fla., Medical Examiner’s Office.

Survivors also include his parents of Columbia; a son, Joshua Andrew Harlan of Columbia; a daughter, Lindsey Jo Harlan of Independence; and a brother, Stanley Ray Harlan of Columbia.

Broadway, Suite 100, Columbia, Mo., 65203; Rainbow House Children’s Advocacy Center, 2305 Oakland Gravel Road, Columbia, Mo., 65202; the American Humane Association, 63 Inverness Drive, Englewood, Colo., 80013; or to the charity of donor’s choice.
