Edna Pearl Halt Stewart, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at her daughters residence in Terre Haute. Her husband, the Rev. John Lewis Stewart, whom she married Oct. 19, 1946, in Terre Haute, preceded her in death on May 2, 1995. They enjoyed 50 years together in the ministry serving various Wesleyan Churches over the years. She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Cory, to Virgil E. Halt and Vera Esther Stoneburner Halt.

Edna Pearl Halt Stewart, 90, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2015, at her daughter's residence in Terre Haute. Her husband, the Rev. John Lewis Stewart, whom she married Oct. 19, 1946, in Terre Haute, preceded her in death on May 2, 1995. They enjoyed 50 years together in the ministry, serving various Wesleyan Churches over the years. She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Cory, to Virgil E. Halt and Vera Esther Stoneburner Halt.. Survivors include her three children and their families, which include eight grandchildren, a son, Estel Wayne Stewart Sr. and wife Vangie and their four children Jacquelynn Stewart, Gwendora McIntyre and husband Jason, Estel Wayne Stewart Jr., and Michael Dwayne Stewart and wife Maryann; a daughter, Esther Ruth Hedden and husband Carl Hedden Sr. and their children Angela Haley and Carl Hedden Jr. and wife Sandra, and her son, John "Mark" Stewart and wife Charlotte and their children Andrea Frady and husband Todd and Kristin Stewart; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Wayne Halt; and two sisters-in-law, Virginia Clouse and Joan Halt.. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Estel Ray "Chub" Halt and Cecil Glenn Halt; and a sister-in-law, Kiva Halt.. Edna attended the Terre Haute Bible Holiness Church. She enjoyed going to church, doing crafts and, together with her husband, she enjoyed entertaining evangelists during revivals throughout their years in ministry.. Funeral services for Edna will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Faith Wesleyan Church, 6751 S. Carlisle St., with Pastor Wendell Kirkman officiating. Visitation will be 3 p.m. until service time Thursday in the church. There will be a graveside committal services at 11 a.m. Friday in Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be Carl Hedden Jr., Estel Wayne Stewart Jr., Kristin Stewart, Michael Stewart, Kelly Seeley, and David Halt. Fitzpatrick Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.. The family would like to give a special thank you to Heart To Heart Hospice and her family doctor, Jon Stockrahm, for the care of our mother. The family also suggests that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to Heart To Heart Hospice with envelopes available in the church.
