George migrated to Arkansas later than his Uncle William and his sons, and
settled on Lick Mountain (later to be known as Woolverton Mountain) in
Conway county, moving later to the south fork of Little Red river six
miles above Clinton. There he accumulated a large body of fertile land
and was a prosperous farmer, at one time the largest taxpayer in Van Buren
county, and was elected by the county as its county judge four terms. He
with a few other citizens took the lead in reclaiming the county from the
hands of the carpetbaggers after the Civil War. He had two sons, Joseph
who located in Northwest Missouri, and Newton who settled near Center
Ridge in Conway county.
