Walter was a member of the Columbia Elementary School Board for many years.

Alice Grant Wolverton was a lifetime resident of Columbia and passed away in a Sonora hospital on a Monday. She had suffered from a long illness, scleroderma, which resulted in her death. She was 63.

Mrs. Wolverton was employed for three years with Central Motors in Sonora as a clerical worker in the parts department.

A lifetime member of the Columbia Presbyterian Church of the 49'ers, she volunteered for the American Red Cross.

As a dedicated wife and mother, Mrs. Wolverton was a member of the Columbia PTA and an avid Little League participant.

Mrs. Wolverton was survived by her husband of 44 years, Wally Wolverton, two sons and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kathy Wolverton, in 1958.

Alice Grant Wolverton was the daughter of John N. Grant and Ruth Alice Schoettgen.

Her Grandparents were Frank and Alice Schoettgen of Columbia.

Her uncles were Lyle C. and Ellis J. Schoettgen.

She married Wallace Wolverton and had three children.

She lost her daughter shortly after birth but raised her two sons.
