Kay is the daughter of Herbert Ross Jr. & Pauline Adele (Kerk) Glassburn. The family lived in Lodgepole, Sunol and Sidney area. Kay graduated from Lodgepole High School with the Class of 1969. She attended and graduated, with a degree in music, from Chadron State College in 1973.
Kay was involved in 4-H and Choral groups while in High School. After graduating college, she taught American Youth Symphony and Chorus in Clearwater, NE. She returned to Nursing School in Scottsbluff graduating in 1981 and went to work as a traveling nurse and held various positions in Nebraska and Colorado.
