General Notes: Husband - Roger Giler

General Notes: Wife - Clarice Elaine (Claire) Phillips

from Glenn Gohr
"Claire Giler is a new subscriber to Wolvertons Unlimited. She heard about the newsletter
through Jim Wright who has been referring a number of researchers to me. (Claire says that she
has not personally "proven" the 3 earliest links of Charles-Thomas-John. I have supplied the
earlier lineage based on David Macdonald's research—ed.)
Clarice (Phillips) "Claire" Giler was born on December 1, 1933 at Rogersville, Greene
County, Pennsylvania. She lived her early years in Greene County and graduated from
Clarion State College, Clarion, Pennsylvania. She married Roger Giler in 1954. Places they
have lived include Meadville, Cochranton & McMurray, Pennsylvania and East Aurora, New
York.
In 1963 they moved to Wilton, Connecticut, where they still live. They have 3 sons, all
married, and 6 grandchildren-4 boys & 2 girls. Their children and grandchildren are scattered
between Boston, Massachusetts; Baltimore, Maryland; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Claire is active in the community, including the Woman's Club, Wilton Library Board of
Trustees, and the Congregational Church where they attend. Roger and Claire have had a
computer consulting business for the last 12 years. She has been doing genealogy research for
about 18 years. Like most people, she wishes she had started earlier-when she still lived in
Greene County, Pennsylvania. She shares that most of her ancestors were in southwestern
Pennsylvania by the late 1700s or early 1800s. She is searching 40+ surnames including
WOLVERTON. Other than genealogy, she enjoys traveling, reading, sewing, and family visits."
