Harold “Gus” L. Gard, 73, of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly of Cory, Indiana passed away at Union Hospital on April 11, 2019. Harold was born on June 26, 1945, in Clay County, Indiana the son of D. Dillon and Caroline (Jackson) Gard.

Harold graduated from Cory High School. As a young man he helped on his parent’s and grandparent’s farm. He and his wife Mildred purchased his grandparents farm in 1972. Harold also worked as a maintenance coordinator at Eli Lilly. He retired from there at the age of 49 due to complications of a stroke.

He was a member of Cory Zion Church where he served as a deacon for many years.

Harold is survived by his wife Mildred (Halstead) Gard whom he married on September 19, 1965. He is also survived by 3 children: Bradley Gard of Cory, Indiana, Brian Gard and wife Valerie of Greensburg, Indiana, and Patricia Singer and husband Jared of Terre Haute; 2 grandchildren: Austin Davis and Kody Davis both of Terre Haute as well as many extended family members; special nieces and nephews: Greg, Pam, Cindy, Carol, Chad, and Robbie

Harold is preceded in death by his parents Dillon and Caroline Gard; two brothers: Willis Gard and Gerald Gard.

Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.
