Biography
Biography: David Reeser Whitehill was the ninth child of David the third and
Rachel M. (Callihan) Whitehill. He was born on the family farm in
Highland Township, Clarion Co., PA. He spent part of his life as a
farmer and this lead to selling farm machinery. He then became a
rural mail carrier and delivered mail with a horse and buggy out of
Strattanville, PA. He then became Postmaster of Strattanville untiol
his death on 4-12-1929.
His first wife, Celestia S. Kline, apparently died of childbirth.
She died 10-2-1884, ten days before their infant daughter, Bertha.
He later married Mary Clementine Furman and they had five children:
Cassius, Jessie, Evelyn, David and Mildred.

Biography: Mary Clementine ("Clem") Furman was the daughter of Alonzo Baldwin
Furman and Catherine Ann (Lowry) Furman. Her husband was David
Reeser Whitehill and they had five children. Evelyn, her third child, died
in childbirth and "Clem", along with her two maiden daughters, raised
Evelyn's son Gerald Potts. Of course Harry Potts was involved but
Gerald lived with his grandmother and aunts.
Clem lived with her daughters in Leetsdale, PA while they taught in
the Pittsburgh area schools. She died there in 1947 and is buried
at Strattanville, PA.
