Edwin Howard Wuertley, 83, son of A.W. and Rebecca Young Wuertley, was born Sept. 3, 1911, at Summersville. He died July 23, 1995, at his home at Summersville. He married Ruth Foulk March 7, 1941. They had five children. Mr. Wuertley was a charter member of the Summersville High School Future Farmers of America chapter and was a farmer in Texas County. He worked to rebuild the Bethel Church and served as a board member for the Bethel Cemetery for 47 years. He and his wife maintained the records for the cemetery. He was preceded in death by one son, Marshall Wuertley; a brother, Irvin Wuertley; and one grandchild. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; four children, Charlotte Andervich of Kansas City., Kan., Muriel Shriver and Donald Wuertley of Ozark and Charles Wuertley of Summersville; one brother, Robert Wuertley of Riverton, Wyo.; one sister, Elsa Richardson of Summersville; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were July 26 at the Bethel Church with the Rev. Arvel Schweighauser officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville

Ruth Wuertley (Foulk) was born November 9, 1914 and died March 27, 2012, making her 97 years old. She died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her family. She was the sole survivor of the David and Alice Foulk family.

Ruth was survived by her children, Donald Wuertley, Charles Wuertley and wife Brenda, Muriel Shriver and husband Walter, and Charlotte Andervich and husband David. She leaves to mourn 10 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, her son Marshall, and grandsons, Michael and Edwin.

Ruth enjoyed reading, quilting, and gardening. She faithfully attended Bethel Community Church for many years and was an avid supporter of the Summersville Senior Center.

Ruth completed her nursing education at Kewanne Public Hospital in Kankaee, Illinois and worked as a registered nurse in Arizona, and Illinois prior to her marriage in 1941. Prior to attending nursing school she taught in the local rural schools.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 11:00 Am at Bethel Church near Summersville with Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Interment Bethel Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. Online condolences maybe left at bradfordfuneralhome.net
