Elmer's mothers name was Mary Magalene POPE.

Elmer was known by the nickname "Sam". He was also known by the nickname of "Doc" to his co-workers, and patients at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville where he worked as an aid.

Elmer P Little was born October 18, 1916 in Everest(Coal Mining Camp)located in Marion Co, Iowa. The son of Walter and Mary Little.

Elmer Pearl Little was united in marriage on September 14, 1938 in Albia, Iowa, to Agnes Viola FORD. To this union 4 children were born: Lola 'Darlene', Raymond Eugene, Donald Ferris, and Kenneth Wayne.

Elmer was a quiet man, with an ornery sense of humor. He enjoyed talking on his CB, his handle was 'Brown Jet'. He didn't talk much about growing up. Elmer worked as a coal miner at Pleasant Valley Coal mine, 5 miles east of Knoxville. Elmer and his brother Delno were in a coal mining accident in 1939. Delno died instantly from the slate fall. Elmer sustained a severely broken ankle among his injuries. Elmer later attempted to enlist in the army. He made it through several steps, however upon the physical evaluation, he failed due to the extent of permanent injury that his ankle had sustained.
Elmer enjoyed working at the Veterans Administration Hospital as an aid, he retired in 1977. After retirement, Elmer helped his son Ray part-time with Ray and Mike's Mobile Home Service. Elmer enjoyed fishing and watching boxing.
Elmer and Agnes shared 52 years of marriage. They celebrated their golden 50th anniversary at the United Methodist Church in Bussey Iowa with family and friends.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Agnes in 1991, his son Raymond in 1988, his daughter Darlene Mason in 2005. His parents Walter Little in 1964 and his mother Mary POPE Van Rees in 1960. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers Gilbert Dale Little in 1916 and Delno Ferris Little in 1939, and his sister Maxine Reither in 1995. Also preceding him in death were his half sisters, Betty Marlow in 1983, and Mildred Manser in 1991.
Surviving are his sons Donald (Joan) Little of Monroe Iowa, Kenneth (Jeanie) Little of Melcher Iowa, 15 grandchildren,2 step grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 27, 2007 at the Bussey United Methodist Church, Jill Leveck officiating. Burial was at Green Lawn Cemetery in Bussey, Iowa.

"Elmer 'Doc' Little, 90, of Knoxville passed away on March 24, 2007, at Griffin Nursing Center.

He was born on Oct. 18, 1916, to Walter and Mary (Poe) Little. He married Agnes Ford in 1938. Elmer worked at the VA Hospital and retired in 1977. He enjoyed fishing.

Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, a son, Raymond Little and a daughter, Darlene Mason.

He is survived by two sons, Donald (Joan) Little of Monroe and Kenny (Jeanie) Little of Melcher, 15 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 35 greatgrandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on March 27 at the United Methodist Church in Bussey with Rev. Jill Leveck officiating.

Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bussey.

Agnes passed away January 25, 1991 at her home in Bussey,Marion Co., Iowa of a massive heart attack.

Agnes is survived by her husband Elmer Pearl Little and one brother Francis Orville Ford of Bussey, 13 grandchildren, and many great~grandchildren

Internment was at Greenlawn Cemetery, Bussey, Iowa.
Agnes will always be remembered as the keeper of family genealogy in her family of Ford, and LaMar, as well as a keeper of record for her husband's family the Little's.
Agnes's mother Anna Agnes (LaMar) Ford, passed her family bible to Agnes, who passed it to her son, Donald Ferris Little, who passed it to his niece Connie Jo (Little)~Schippers ~ Van Polen in 2014.

Services for Agnes Viola Little, 70, of Bussey, who passed away Jan. 25, 1991 at her home, were held Jan. 28 at the United Methodist Church in Bussey.

Interment was in Greenlawn Cemetery at Bussey.

Rev. Rick Burns officiated at the services.

Agnes Viola Little was born June 2, 1920 in Albia to Marcus Orville and Anna Agnes LaMar Ford. She had lived most of her life in Marion County, She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bussey, the Methodist Women and the Bussey Womens Club.

She married Elmer P. Little on Sept. 14, 1938 in Albia. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband Elmer, a daughter Lola Darelen Mason [sic] of Knoxville, two sons, Donald Ferris Little of Monroe and Kenneth Wayne Little of Des Moines, 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Frances Ford of Bussey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Raymond Little, one brother, Charles Ford and one sister Marion Ellen Muller."
